Background

Capital Trust Limited (CTL), incorporated on 23rd August, 1985, is a Non-banking financial services company assisted by a team of specialists in the field of Banking, Finance, Commerce, Law and other allied subjects.

 The company was originally promoted by eminent personalities such as Mr.Kanwal Raj Puri (former Governor, Reserve Bank of India), Justice MH Beg (former Chief Justice of India), Mr. SD Varma (former Chairman and Managing Director of Allahabad Bank), Mr. V.K. Khosla (formerly Dy. General Manager, Indian Overseas Bank), Dr.A.M. Khusro, who was a well known economist and Member of the 11th Finance Commission was Chairman of the Company for many years. Mr. R.K. Kaul (former deputy Governor RBI) was the Chairman of the company from 1987 to 2001.

Since inception, Capital Trust Ltd. had been engaged in hire-purchasing and leasing of plant and machinery, office equipment and two wheelers.  In May 2008, however, Capital Trust shifted its business strategy to focus exclusively on microfinance activities from hire-purchase and lease of two wheelers, plant and machinery and office equipment to businesses and consumers. The company has also been representing foreign banks in India who do not have branches or representative offices in India.
